RECREATIONAL PLAYERS AND TEAMS:

No tryouts are required for PSC recreational level teams. Players are assigned to teams by coaches and the respective age group coordinators. Player preferences will be accommodated to the extent possible; all U9 and older teams are formed in accordance with the PSC player draft process. Teams will be 'flighted' to play teams of similar age and ability.

(Any issues with registering on the website contact clubandleaguesupport@ussoccerconnect.com Stack Sports support phone number 866.726.4131)

SUNDAY ONLY TEAMS:

PSC strives to host at least one team in each age/gender division which plays only on Sundays during the Fall season, provided there are sufficient coaches and players to form a team. PSC has done this on behalf of the entire Jack London Youth Soccer League for the past eleven years. These teams give preference to families who have custody, language school or religious conflicts with a Saturday schedule. This option needs to be checked on the registration form.

PLAYING OUTSIDE OF YOUR AGE GROUP: (see age group below chart or link)

Current changes to Age Group/Birth Year. To read more go to:
http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2017/08/01/18/40/20170801-feat-coaching-ed-five-things-to-know-about-birth-year-registration

The California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) establishes age groups based on calendar year of birth. Please check our age group chart to see where your child should be playing in fall. The only PSC exception to CYSA is U6 in which PSC enrolls all Kindergartners.

U6-U8 age groups will play dual games, which means the team will divide their roster in half each game and play simultaneous games. Rosters can be divided in any way the coaches decide.

U7/U8 now includes 5 training sessions, per team, with a Professional Coach from 24-7 UK soccer. These sessions are an extra weekday learning opportunity for the players and parent coaches to attend.

Players who wish to play up in the next age group or play down with their classmates must obtain the approval of both the Age Group Coordinator of the 'correct' age group and the Age Group Coordinator of the age group that the player is looking to play into. To obtain permission, the player (or parent) should email both Age Group Coordinators with the request. The request should include the player's name, grade in Fall and a brief explanation of why the player wishes to play up or play down. Email addresses for the Age Group Coordinators can be found here

JLYSSL Concussion Policy
The league authorizes its referees to remove a player from a match when the referee is concerned that a concussion has been sustained, and once removed the player may not return to the match. The league recommends that all coaches, parents, players, and officials take sanctioned online training in concussion awareness, and that coaches teach ball control to their players to reduce the incidence of concussions.

Coaches Info-new rules & concussion course

Jack London league has imposed a new rule which took effect this spring. All recreational teams ages U10+ are required to have an "affiliated referee." An affiliated referee earns "ref credits" for that team whenever he/she officiates a game either as a center ref or a/r. Teams who do not have an affiliated referee by the start of the fall season will not play any home games in the fall. So, instead of playing 8 games for the season, the team would only play 4 games if it does not have an affiliated referee.

It is therefore imperative that every team that forms for the fall identify someone to become an affiliated referee for that team. It can be a parent, an older sibling (age 14+), a neighbor, a babysitter, the 20-something barista at Starbucks, anyone who is willing! PSC will be hosting a referee training August 18-19 - please save the date. As soon as you have your team roster for the fall, please contact the parents on the team, explain this requirement, and ask them to consider taking the course on August 18/19 to become a referee.

If you have any questions about this rule, or are not familiar with the affiliated referee requirement in general, please feel free to contact me or our club's referee coordinator, Colin Zak at referee@piedmontsoccer.org.

For Coaches, please register on same site as player but use Coach/Volunteer registration. PSC Recreational coaches will have to do fingerprinting thru LiveScan.
LiveScan Form

To do fingerprinting, it is essential that coaches bring their driver's license (or another form of government issued identification) to fingerprinting together with the attached form properly filled out. Where the form asks for the District, League and Club number you must use these numbers for your fingerprinting results to be routed properly:
District = 04 League = 14 Club = 06
Coaches go to one of these sites. You do not get charged and CapitalLive can track these transactions.
Fingerprinting Locations

All Rec and Competitive Coaches will need to complete the "Heads Up Concussion" free online class and obtain their certificate at:
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
